BJH Comprehensive Health Services

Medical Plans
The State Health Plan (PPO)

The SHP offers the Standard Plan, the Savings Plan and, for retirees who are eligible for medicare, the Medicare Supplemental Plan. The SHP has networks of doctors, hospitals and other providers that will accept the plan's allowable charge as payment in full.

A subscriber must use network pharmacies. After a subscriber reaches the deductible, he pays coinsurance until the coinsurance maximum is reached. The plan then pays 100 percent of the allowable charge.

The main difference between the plans is the amount you will pay for premiums, deductibles, co-payments for office and emergency care visits, and your share of the cost for health care services.

BlueChoice and CIGNA (HMOs)

HMO members must use network healthcare providers, including hospitals, except in emergencies. Each family member chooses his/her own primary care physician, who coordinates care, including referrals to specialists.

BlueChoice Health Plan

Most services, such as office visits, well child care visits, routine physical and immunizations, require a copayment. BlueChoice has an annual deductible, which applies to some services.

CIGNA has no annual deductible. Members share costs by making copayments for some services. Both Cigna and BlueChoice prescription drugs are available from a network pharmacy for a copayment.

Dental Plans
Two plans are available:  State Dental Plan and Dental Plus.  BJHCHS Inc provides State Dental Plan coverage for active employees only.  State Dental plan offers diagnostic and preventive, basic, prosthodontics and orthodontics.  The Dental Plus Plan covers the same services as the State Dental Plan except orthodontics.  However, the Dental Plus plan offers $1000.00 additional allowance for covered services.
